The sequel to the breakout horror hit was a bit of a let down for many. Sure, it had more money, but it felt pretty flat in comparison to the bone-tinglingly terrifying first movie, which still holds up to repeat views.
For the third installment, they’ve taken the prequel route back a notch with a story set in 1988, when the sisters from the first two movies were very young (and all the paranormal shenanigans started). I’m surprised to see that it’s predominantly all cam-footage again, but with the appointment of the directors of Catfish we can at least hope for some inventive stuff throughout. Check out the trailer below – it already looks more promising than the sequel however it does appear to give away a good few BOO moments!

Trailers can be deceptive, but the voiceover in particular of young actor Thomas Horn sounds pretty forced and a bit odd. There’s no doubting the acting talents of Hanks and Bullock though, and the film does look pretty interesting overall. It should be noted too that this is being released at Christmas in the US – right in time for Oscar….

Off the back of a whirlwind of massive controversy and a complete ban in the UK comes the official trailer for the follow-up to Tom Six’s Human Centipede, a film that divided audiences before it even came out, thanks to the incredibly grisly premise (you probably know what it is by now, and if not, take a guess).
The sequel made the headlines when it received a full ban in the UK, based on the extremely graphic and potentially offensive content of the film. It’s an extensive ban too – no dvd sales, no rentals, nothing. Click the link above to see why indeed they chose to ban the film – there’s absolutely no doubt that this is a dark, dark film.
It has a very meta storyline as a car park attendant becomes dangerously obsessed with the first movie, and decides to improve on the original idea himself. There’s no tongue-in-cheek horror here, it looks straight up horrific in more ways than one. Whilst there is no doubt a market for the movie – especially after being banned – I personally can’t see the appeal, for whilst it may be horrifying, it doesn’t look entertaining. In the end though, the film will probably benefit from the ban thanks to curiousity from horror fans. Check out the dark trailer below to see for yourself.

I’m not entirely sure what purpose they serve, but they do look rather cool. Feast your eyes on some “digital postcards” for In Time, which hits cinemas on November 1st (Worldwide). There’s a decent enough cast in this, including Justin Timberlake as well as our own Cillian Murphy (yes we own him..ahem). This is looking to be decent enough. While it’s nowhere near as complicated looking as Inception, it certainly doesn’t seem like your average brain dead action flick.

Yes, it might come as a shock to some, but Elmo of Sesame Street isn’t 100% real. I’m sorry if I have to be the one to break this harrowing news to you!
It’s not all bad though. Unlike many puppets/muppets, Elmo is always voiced and played by one man, Kevin Clash, who through Elmo fulfilled his life-long dream of being a puppeteer. Since the creation of the little furry red guy he’s gone on to be one of the most enduring and well-loved Sesame St. characters – if not the most – and the festival circus has been abuzz this year about Being Elmo: A Puppeteers Journey,, a documentary about Clash and how he made Elmo the megastar puppet he is today. Alongside that, the film also looks at the rise of Muppet Man himself, the late great Jim Henson.
As you can see from the trailer, it’s a hugely positive, uplifting story and whilst it would be easy for some to look at this with a cynical perspective, it looks like a fantastic documentary – you’d have to have a heart of pure granite not to think it looks incredibly heartfelt. And even though Elmo has been around for ages, you only need to look at the success of Tickle Me Elmo every Christmas to see how big he still is! Check out the trailer below – it’s released next month in the US with no set date for this side of the pond, but hopefully it won’t be too long!

Shrek Forever After might have been a let down for many, but there’s no doubting the appeal and popularity of Puss in Boots, helped no end by Antonio Banderas’ performance. I was lucky enough to see 15 minutes of footage at the Moviefest this August, and not only does look funny, the action was fantastic and it’s visually very distinct from the Shrek series. I guess it doesn’t hurt that Guillermo Del Toro has had a lot on input into the movie too!
