It’s almost a cliche to suggest that Meryl Streep will get an Oscar nomination for a movie, but in fairness, this Margaret Thatcher biopic has OSCAR ROLE written all over it. Whether she’ll win or not is another matter – the Weinsteins clearly think they’re in with a shot, buying the movie early this year with view to releasing it in prime Oscar season.

We’ve only seen a brief teaser so far which, whilst short, did demonstrate again Streep’s knack for getting characters pretty spot on. The success of the movie will depend on how Thatcher herself is depicted, no doubt – she’s a pretty divisive woman to say the least!

The first official poster (via imp) has just been released and  as you can see, it does look pretty nifty, in an old fashioned way. Expect a trailer soon!
