Having spent the last few years working on a number of indie dramas and the excellent Californication, it looks like David Duchovny is returning to more familiar territory with the paranormal thriller Phantom.
Due for release in 2012, Phantom is set on a Soviet submarine during the Cold War as Russian Captain Demi (Ed Harris) is sent on a covert mission. All is not as it seems however, as the captain has to deal with an apparently haunted vessel, as well as a splinter group of KGB agents lead by Duchovny's Bruni. Andy Garcia was originally signed on to play the part of Bruni, but has now been replaced by Duchovny.
Phantom is being written and directed by Todd Robinson (Lonely Hearts) and is set to feature Duchovny's Californication co-star Natasha McElhone. Filming is set to start next month in Long Beach, California.
